The University of Glasgow was founded in 1451 and held classes in the Chapterhouse of Glasgow Cathedral until 1870 when the University moved from High Street to Gilmorehill.

The University of Glasgow is the second-oldest university of Scotland after University of St Andrews which was founded in 1413.
