McCAIG’S TOWER
Argyll and Bute, Scotland

Oban Harbour at Night with McCaig’s Folly lit up in red upon Battery Hill, Oban, Scotland.

McCaig’s Tower on Battery Hill was built between 1897 and 1902 on commission by John Stuart McCaig with the intention to provide a monument to his family but also to provide work for the local stonemasons. The tower was also meant to become a museum and art gallery. Sadly, due to Mr McCaig’s death, his plans never came into reality. However, the empty shell of McCaig’s Tower stands proud overlooking Oban and Oban Bay and is a lovely place to visit.
