For about five years or so I’ve been thinking of taking on portrait photography but not had the confidence to do so. Of course, I’ve been taking pictures since childhood of my family, relatives and my partner, but that’s different from photographing strangers (less pressure when not getting the picture sharp, in focus etc. which is something I aim for in all of my photographs; if I’m not happy with the photo, I won’t showcase it).

When a couple of colleagues asked if I would like to take their team and individual pictures for their Charity Zip Slide for Cancer Research, I sought to take on my trepidation and take on the challenge; and I am happy I did.

I met with Gemma and Iain, at Glasgow Botanical Gardens for a photoshoot for their JustGiving page and flyer. Unfortunately, only two members of the team could attend, but we had good fun, serious discussions about life and also a lot of laughs.

I let Gemma and Iain know on beforehand that I like to take my time taking these images as I want them to have perfect quality and focus. Luckily, they had patience to let me do this and trusted I would “deliver” quality images. Thank you!

If you wish to support my colleagues and their team “Bravehearts Zip Sliders” raising funds to support Cancer Research at the Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre, which is a part of the University of Glasgow’s Institute of Cancer Sciences, please use this JustGiving link. Thank you for your support towards Cancer Research!

I would like to do some more portrait photography; should you know anyone who appreciate taking time, then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Here are a couple of my photographs from the photoshoot (approved to publish by Gemma and Iain):
