Castle Stalker surrounded by the water of Loch Laich, snow-capped hills and a bright sky which cleared after a heavy downpour

Argyll and Bute, Scotland

Castle Stalker was built in the 1300s on and isle surrounded by Loch Laich by Clan MacDougall, Lords of Lorn.

Around 1380s Clan Stewart took over the Lordship of Lorn and the castle.

Castle Stalker was passed to Clan Stewart after a drunken wager in 1620s where Clan Campbell exchanged it for an eight-oared wherry.
The castle changed hands between Clan Campbell and Clan Stewart over the years until the Campbell’s abandoned the castle in the 1840s when it lost its roof.
